Bobbye Ann Hanks Wright Dyer, 89, of Hewitt, Texas entered the gates of Heaven Tuesday, June 14, 2022. Visitation will be 5-7pm, Thursday, June 16 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be 11am, Friday, June 17, 2022 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home with Bro. Billy Edwards officiating. Interment will be 12pm, Saturday, June 18 at Laurel Land Cemetery in Dallas, Texas with Eastern Star Honors.
Bobbye was born June 11, 1933 in Russellville, Arkansas the only child of Zaida Weir and James Hanks. She grew up in Detroit. In 1951, the family moved to Dallas, Texas. Bobbye did payroll and accounting for several international and national businesses.
After retirement, she was a caretaker for her beloved mother for several years. Following her passing, she moved to Hewitt to be closer to her daughter and her family. She was a volunteer for Providence Hospital for 15 years, until the covid pandemic made volunteers obsolete. She was a long-time member of Brazos Meadows Baptist Church. Bobbye was a proud member of the Order of the Eastern Star since June 15, 1952, one day short of 70 years! During those years she was a member of Oak Cliff and Loyal Chapters (in the Dallas area), and Lorena, Lott and McLennan chapters (in the Waco area). She served as an officer in the chapters including Worthy Matron multiple times. She was extremely proud to have been appointed as Deputy Grand Matron (1999), Grand Representative of New Jersey (1956), and many Grand Chapter Special Committees for years.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Left to cherish her memories are her children, Susan Risenhoover and husband Wil, Bill Wright and wife Cheryl, Linda Fowler and friend Bill; 8 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; aunt, Frankie Weisinger; and 3 cousins.
